Los Angeles CA— Metrolink joins with NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson to encourage fans to take Metrolink train service to the Rams home game today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Coliseum.
In a recorded message playing on Metrolink trains systemwide, Dickerson urges fans to skip traffic and save on parking by taking Metrolink.
“Want to see these athletes in action? Take Metrolink to Los Angeles to watch our Los Angeles Rams take the field! Beat traffic, save on parking fees and enjoy the ride with fellow fans,” Dickerson says in the message.
A Metrolink ticket provides free transfer to Metro Rail connecting Union Station and the Coliseum. The former Rams star speaks to Metrolink riders as a “Guest Train Conductor.”
Special trains connecting to Rams games will operate for Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay, on Oct. 13 for a game against the San Francisco 49ers and on Dec. 29 when the Rams play the Arizona Cardinals.
As part of his message, the Hall of Famer also introduces riders to two charitable causes, Metrolink Cares, a program that helps organizations in communities where Metrolink operates and an organization of which he is a founding member, the Young Warriors Foundation.
“I understand the importance of presenting underserved young men with positive, confident and poised role models to learn from and model themselves after,” Dickerson said. “Metrolink Cares supports causes that improve lives for the people in the communities Metrolink serves.”
Metrolink Cares launched in 2019 to engage and provide human services in communities where the commuter rail service already offers transportation.
Among previous guest conductors have been former Angels player Tim Salmon, Los Angeles County Supervisor and Metrolink Board Member Kathryn Barger, State Senator Connie Leyva, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, City of Highland Mayor Pro Tem and Metrolink 2nd Vice-Chair Larry McCallon, Jurupa Mayor and Metrolink Board Member Brian Berkson and Ontario City Councilmember and Metrolink Board Member Alan D. Wapner.
The Guest Train Conductor Program began this year and features celebrities and community leaders who help Metrolink enhance the customer experience by building interest in local destinations and initiatives.
