The Sheriff’s Department will conduct DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in San Marcos from 6 p.m. Aug. 1 to 2 a.m. Aug. 2, authorities announced.
The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit will run the checkpoint at an undisclosed location with the goal of keeping intoxicated drivers off the road.
A Sheriff’s Department announcement reported that routine, well-publicized DUI checkpoints and patrols can help reduce crashes caused by impaired driving by up to 20 percent.
