Joyce ahead of incumbent Jensen for District 1 Oceanside City Council seat

OsideNewsOceanside District 1 City Council member Kori Jensen was just behind candidate Eric Joyce as of early Nov. 8 election results released Wednesday morning by the San Diego County Registrar of Voters.

Joyce and Jensen were competing for the winning spot by a 292-vote margin in a field of five candidates total. District 1 includes downtown Oceanside east to Ivey Ranch Road and Mission Gate Drive. The registrar’s early preliminary numbers showed Joyce with 2,554 votes (38.19%) compared with Jensen’s 2,262 votes (33.82%).

The other three candidates were placing as follows:

Darin Selnick 1,365 (20.41%)
Alvin L. McGee 271 (4.05%)
David Turgeon 236 (3.53%)

In District 2, which covers Oceanside’s northeast corner, Richard Robinson was ahead of Daniel Dominguez by 3,812 votes (54.88%) to 3,134 (45.12%). Appointed incumbent and former Oceanside police officer Ryan Keim was not on the ballot.
