Thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers and community partners, Interfaith Community Services’ Holiday Sponsor-A-Family program served 343 families and residential clients this holiday season at Winterfaith Wonderland on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The event was possible through more than $100,000 in monetary donations and gifts and with the support of over 150 volunteers.
This year marked a milestone for the program, as clients were able to shop for their own families for the first time. Interfaith transformed its Community Hub into a holiday-themed “shopping mall,” bringing added dignity and choice to the experience. Gifts were also provided to all residential clients.
Interfaith’s annual Holiday Sponsor-A-Family program helps ensure families experiencing poverty, food insecurity and housing instability can celebrate the holidays.
Founded in 1979, the North San Diego County-based organization provides a range of programs designed to empower hungry, homeless and low-income community members to begin a pathway towards self-sufficiency. Each year, Interfaith impacts more than 23,000 community members by providing basic needs and nutrition support, social services, shelters and housing, employment development, youth programs, senior services, veterans programs and addiction recovery support.
