The 16th annual Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro competition and festival returns to Oceanside Pier Sept. 16-18.

The all-female surfing event includes local competitors Caitlin Simmers of Oceanside, Alyssa Spencer of Carlsbad and Samantha Sibley of San Clemente.

A free Nissan Concert Series features 15 artists performing live concerts, including acts such as The Offspring, Smash Mouth, Hoobastank, The Expendables,and Kira Kosarin.

Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro was launched in 2006 to showcase women in action sports, according to an event announcement. The program includes Super Girl Surf Pro, Super Girl Snow Pro, headlined by Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Jacobellis, Super Girl Skate, and the Super Girl Gamer Pro Esports Competition.
