A brush fire that prompted shelter-in-place orders and road closures in Oceanside on Friday, April 24, has been fully contained and extinguished, with no injuries or structural damage reported.
Fire crews responded earlier in the day to a grass fire near Oceanside Boulevard and Rancho Del Oro Drive, where authorities ordered residents at the El Corazon Senior Center and nearby apartment communities to remain indoors as a precaution, according to an Oceanside Fire Department report.
By later in the day, officials said the fire was 100% contained. Crews remained on scene conducting mop-up operations to eliminate any remaining hot spots.
Shelter-in-place orders were lifted once conditions improved, and most roads in the area have since reopened. However, closures remained in effect along Senior Center Drive in both directions and westbound Oceanside Boulevard between Rancho Del Oro Drive and El Camino Real.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
