The latest major storm to sweep through the region met or exceeded predictions as North San Diego County residents faced significant rainfall and flooding this week.
All lanes of State Route 78 through the Oceanside-Carlsbad-Vista area have reopened after two months of work to repair damaged culverts from the winter’s heavy rains, Caltrans officials announced May 8.
Much of Southern California has received record amounts of rain throughout 2023 thus far, and cities throughout North San Diego County, including Oceanside, Carlsbad and Encinitas, are attempting to reckon with the damage, one dollar at a time.
A stretch of westbound State Route 78 through the Oceanside-Carlsbad area will be closed for several days to repair weather-related damage, Caltrans and the city of Oceanside announced Wednesday, March 15.
