The Vallecitos Water District was honored in August for achieving re-accreditation with a Transparency Certificate of Excellence issued by the Special District Leadership Foundation, given to organizations for their outstanding efforts to promote a transparent, well-governed public agency.

The card and box of chocolates that recently came to San Elijo Joint Powers Authority Recycled Water Supervisor Mike Piper were not from his wife, any of his five daughters, or five grandchildren. Instead, they were a sincere gesture from a young utility worker he had mentored.

Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside representatives on the San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors are among new members who participated in their first meeting Jan. 26.
