Notes+and+Quotes+by+Tom+Morrow
By Tom Morrow

Long-time O’sider Jim Schroder sent me an e-mail from Central America where’s currently playing tourist. For Jim, traveling around the world is a passion. He speaks fluent Spanish and fits right into most Latin American societies – however his blond head and blue eyes might give him away.
Jim writes: “You have an international audience. I was in (the cities of) Managua and Granada, Nicaragua for five days. Food and drink are so cheap.  The country is just beginning to have tourism after the years of Sandinista wars.
“Thursday I flew into Costa Rica and have been traveling around. Went river rafting yesterday.  Nicaragua was my 140th country to have visited.”
Jim only has 50 or 60 more countries to visit before he gets all of ‘em. He’s young enough – he just might make it. Bon Voyage!
The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
If you’re one of those of us born between 1925-1970, congratulations! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors who have ever live on this planet.
While you’re at it, forward it to your kids, so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were to have lived in such a dramatic time in world history. There was more technical and intellectual progress made during the mid-20th century than any other time in the history of man.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it ?
QUITE QUOTEABLE — “With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?”
Meet me Thursday evening, Jan. 29, for ‘Author’s Nite’ at the Sunset Market in downtown Oceanside. I’ll be on hand with my novels and self-help books. See you there. But, if you’re not able to make it, go to: www.tomorrowsnovels.com for free shipping.
