Whatever
By Tom Morrow
People who are advocating California ceded from the Union are having delusions of grandeur. Consider this:
Taxes – Each remaining taxpayer would be over-burdened. Taking on the California “national” debt would be overwhelming. Talk about an Exodus to Arizona and Texas…
Borders – Who’s gonna protect our more than a thousand miles of borders? Hmmmm. Isn’t that what got us into this mess in the first place? Job opportunities would abound — Who’s gonna man the California Welcome Center in San Ysidro?
Military – Who knows whether the Navy and/or the Marines will stay here. Can California afford to lose those monies? Can we afford to lose their protection? Can we afford to keep the California National Guard units, paying for everything?
Infrastructure – Who’s gonna pay for keeping up our streets, highways, bridges, etc.?
Education – Who’s gonna replace all the federal money designated for education?
Law Enforcement – Who’s gonna replace the officers currently doing the duties of ICE, Coast Guard, Border Patrol, etc.?
These are just a few of the problems separation will cause.
Savings – No one knows what will happen to U.S. backed bank accounts, the IRAs, the 401-ks.
I think you get the picture – California will remain a member of the Union. If not, none of us could afford to live here.
