An anonymous donor is spreading holiday cheer in Carlsbad once again, gifting more than $100,000 worth of toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign through Geppetto’s at The Forum Carlsbad.
The donation marks the seventh year the mystery giver has contributed to the program, which provides new toys to local children in need. The toys will be boxed and loaded by Marine Corps members at Geppetto’s on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 7 to 9 a.m., officially kicking off this year’s Toys for Tots drive.
Geppetto’s owner Brian Miller said the effort has become a holiday tradition, with total donations expected to reach about $750,000 over seven years.
“This act of kindness is what the holiday season is truly about — spreading joy and giving back to those who need it most,” he said in a Forum Carlsbad news release.
Community members can also get involved by donating new, unwrapped toys at any Geppetto’s location throughout the season. Those who bring a toy to The Forum Carlsbad on Nov. 12 will be entered into a raffle for a $100 Geppetto’s gift card.
The event will feature Marines boxing and loading hundreds of toys, holiday displays, and Toys for Tots trucks ready for collection.
