Oceanside police are renewing their call for information in the unsolved 2016 killing of Brandon Keiser, offering up to $11,000 in rewards for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction.
Keiser, a 35-year-old Oceanside resident, was shot and killed on March 22, 2016, shortly after 10 p.m. in the 400 block of South Freeman Street. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found him on the sidewalk outside 410 S. Freeman Street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Keiser had just returned home after buying pizza from a Domino’s location on Mission Avenue in downtown Oceanside. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen or interacted with him at or near the restaurant that night to come forward, as well as anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area.

Witnesses at the time described a suspect vehicle as a small, dark-colored four-door sedan with a distinctive red light bar spanning the trunk, similar to a 2013–2016 Dodge Dart.
Police are also examining a possible link between Keiser’s death and a separate attempted killing that occurred about three weeks earlier, on Feb. 27, 2016, near Palomar College in San Marcos. That incident involved a shooting of a man around 11 p.m. on Palm Road.
The call for tips is the second time Oceanside police have sought new leads in the case. The first follow-up came in 2021.
The combined reward includes $1,000 from San Diego County Crime Stoppers and $10,000 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Anyone with information is urged to contact Oceanside police or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Investigation Tip Line is 760-435-4573, and Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line is 888-580-8477.
