SAN MARCOS: Regional agencies kick off anti-drugged-driving campaign June 9

SAN MARCOS — San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond, local health and social advocacy outlets, and North County law enforcement join forces June 9 at 11 a.m. to highlight the dangers of drugged driving. The event will kick off the “Put Drugged Driving on Your Radar” campaign, aimed at building awareness and preventing driving under the influence of marijuana, other drugs and alcohol. Among community representatives on hand will be Dr. Roneet Lev, Scripps Mercy Hospital emergency physician and San Diego County Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force sector leader; county Sheriff’s Department representatives; and San Marcos Youth Advocacy Coalition members Melissa Arenas and Yareli Perez. The event is sponsored by local agencies including Mental Health Systems, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives in the communities it serves through mental health and substance abuse programs and awareness campaigns.
