As the holiday season approaches, Solutions for Change held Project Jingle Bell, aimed at spreading holiday cheer to families in need, in Vista on Dec. 5.
Solutions for Change gave families living on their campus an extra dose of holiday spirit by decking the campus and units with seasonal decor to spread cheer.
Project Jingle Bell transformed the living spaces with Christmas lights, Christmas trees and gifts for more than 30 families in their apartments and approximately six families in the Healing & Retreat Center who are enrolled in the Solutions Academy. This initiative creates an atmosphere where families can experience the holidays as they are meant to be — filled with merry decor, gifts and extraordinary company.
“Project Jingle Bell is centered around surprising families with beautifully decorated units and seasonal joy,” CEO and cofounder Chris Megison said. “We are bringing the magic of Christmas back to our families and making each and every family on our campus feel like they are right at home, where they belong. We must remember that the holidays are a very vulnerable time for children who are struggling with homelessness, so we wanted to turn every experience, including decorating for the holidays, into an initiative for our families.”
Solutions for Change deploys a ground-up, community-based and social enterprise-driven approach that sees homelessness as primarily a consequence of misdiagnosed causative triggers rather than simply a housing access issue. The organization is primarily operated by a team of people who are “Overcomers” themselves, each with a specific understanding of what works and what doesn’t within the system.
