Sheriff’s Department investigating San Marcos shooting deaths

The sheriff’s Homicide Detail is investigating the shooting deaths of an elderly man and woman June 1 at a San Marcos residence.

At about 3:40 p.m., deputies received a radio call that a man reported that he shot and killed his wife and he was going to kill himself, according to a report from San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. When deputies arrived at the mobile home on East Barham Drive in San Marcos Mobile Estates, they called for the occupants to exit but received no response. Deputies from the sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail then arrived and entered the home, where they found the bodies of an 80-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman.

The Medical Examiner’s Office was working to determine an official cause of death for the couple, the report stated. The couple’s names were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
