Transcript to continue publishing in deal with Los Angeles firm

The San Diego Daily Transcript, a daily business newspaper that has published for nearly 130 years, will continue to publish thanks to a recent deal with the Daily Journal Corp. of Los Angeles.

Daily Journal purchased the Transcript’s name, masthead and other assets, according to an announcement from Daily Journal President Gerald Salzman. Under the new ownership, the Transcript will publish a new website,, starting Sept. 2. The Transcript had announced its planned closure July 22.

Up until August, the Transcript had been owned by the Revelle family, related the Scripps newspaper family. The paper’s former website,, will continue to be available indefinitely, according to a statement.
