Harbaugh trails now open at San Elijo Lagoon in Solana Beach

New San Elijo Lagoon trails in Solana Beach set for opening

The Harbaugh Seaside Trails, located at the southwest end of San Elijo Lagoon in Solana Beach, are set to open at the end of the month, the nonprofit Nature Collective announced Feb. 8.

Work begins on major addition to MiraCosta College’s Cardiff campus

MiraCosta College announced last month that work is beginning on a new Student Services and Administration building at its San Elijo campus in Cardiff. The campus will host a groundbreaking for the $11.8 million project on Oct. 10.

Cranes sit on either side of Interstate 5 at the Manchester Avenue exit and orange netting outlines the area where vegetation has been cleared at San Elijo Lagoon. There is hardly any water in the back basins, the lagoon lacks greenery, and if one did not know better, it might look like the lagoon is in trouble. However, all is as it should be, according to Doug Gibson, executive director and principal scientist of the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy.
