It's no April fool. A super-warm Wednesday closed out March with temperatures in the 80s in some spots along coastal North San Diego County and a record set in the inland areas, weather officials reported.

The Encinitas Spring Street Fair returned to Coast Highway 101 for the 36th year on April 27 and 28, running the length of the thoroughfare from D to J Streets. There was international food, live music, rides for children and a beer garden.

A swarm of travelers is riding in on light Santa Ana winds along the North Coast following this winter’s record rainfall. Painted lady butterflies, which have been observed in spots throughout the county over the past few weeks, have arrived in even more numbers in Encinitas and surrounding communities.
