Palliative care institute at CSU San Marcos adds Shiley to its name

A key California State University institute based at Cal State San Marcos has added prominent San Diego philanthropist Darlene Marcos Shiley to its name after a significant donation. The renamed Shiley CSU Institute for Palliative Care became official this month in recognition of Shiley’s $2.6 million gift.

A proposed update to Encinitas’ city housing plan was losing in preliminary results Tuesday night, whole local school bond measures were on track to win, according to early voting results as of 11:50 p.m. Countywide Measure B, in support of building the massive Lilac Hills development in Valley Center, was also headed for defeat, according to early county results.
